Meet Jason...

Growing up in the east bay, Hayward California, in my family, sports and running around and being active was life. The 21-century adult lives a life, generally, that is void of movement variability and lacks physical exertion.

Sitting and looking at phones has become our bodies go to strenuous physical activities which is not beneficial long term for our mental or physical well being. I am a long time fitness enthusiast who had been going off of instinct and hearsay for most of my adult life, dealing with all sorts of body pain and movement issues. Something always felt off about my body and the feeling I had when I lifted weights. I had no formal education, I just did what everyone else did at the gym. I always had a tight neck and my shins would hurt when I run. My back would always feel funny until eventually, it turned into all-out chronic back pain. I tried chiropractors, physical therapists, and doctors; none of them could help my pain to go away. I learned I had a transitional vertebra with a degenerated L4 disk. I was happy with the diagnosis of my pain, however, the prognosis and the interventions given to me were unsatisfactory. I was not ok with being told to just not do something anymore. I knew there had to be a better way out there. So I went into self-help mode and did as much research as I could to help myself get out of pain.

As I’ve learned more and started feeling better, I realized that I had developed some skills that could help others. I gravitated towards teaching and helping from this point forward. This path led me back to college where I excelled and earned a degree In kinesiology with an emphasis on Therapeutic studies. My degree led me to become one of the top trainers in the Bay Area working for Equinox as a Tier X coach (https://www.equinox.com/personaltraining?icmp=topnav-personaltraining) and master instructor where I excelled at training and teaching trainers to earn their promotions within the company. My education did not stop there, I have since earned multiple certifications throughout Postural Restoration Institute(PRI), learned and practice Functional Range Conditioning (FRC), developed skills to work on trigger points and soft tissue release, and have become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) throughout the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). It is this blending of Mobility/Therapeutic discipline with the methods of strength and conditioning where Origin Posture and Performance was developed. I’m just a regular guy who found a key to optimal movement health and I want to share this fountain of youth with the rest of the world.
